Visitors to Baker County will discover a burgeoning arts community with numerous galleries, resident artists and craftsmen, and a full calendar of arts and cultural events showcasing local a variety of contemporary and traditional art forms.

Downtown Baker City is home to numerous galleries and working artist studios, and hosts the monthly First Friday Art Walk and the annual Baker Artists Studio Tour each October. For more information about local Baker City art events including gallery openings, classes and special events visit the Crossroads Carnegie Arts Center.

A visit to Halfway would not be complete without a stop at the Halfway Whimsical Artist Coop and a chance to visit with some of the dozens of artists who call this tiny hamlet in the Wallowas home.

Visitors will also find a lively music scene in Baker County with several music festivals including the award winning Pine Fest and outdoor concerts on the Main Street Stage in Halfway. In Richland enjoy the Chautauqua Music Festival.

Baker City also host the award winning Powder River Music Review outdoor concert series. Churchill School a beloved old elementary school in Baker City, has new life as an arts, music and recreation hub. The cafeteria and gymnasium space now serves as a 250-person capacity concert venue.

 

For those visitors looking for live theater Baker City is also home to the Eastern Oregon Regional Theatre located in the historic Basche Sage building in the heart of historic downtown Baker City at the corner of Main and Broadway.
